Ascom featured in Columbus Regional Hospital's Technology Showcase

Business Wire, Nov 8, 2005

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. -- Ascom Wireless Solutions, a leading provider of on-site wireless solutions was one of seven companies featured at a Technology Showcase at Columbus Regional Hospital in Columbus, Indiana. The event was held on Thursday, October 13th, 2005 and featured members of the local media and Chamber of Commerce. The hospital holds this event to show the community technological advances within the hospital.

The hospital has chosen to implement the Freeset DCT1900 system with the industry's only purpose-built, healthcare handsets (Medic 9p23) and the Ascom Mobility Server. The Freeset DCT1900 system is a unique, digital, on-site wireless system that allows employees to make and receive calls as if they were using their desk phone. It can be connected to a company's existing business communications network, capitalizing on their initial investment. In addition, Columbus Regional added the Ascom Communication Gateway, Emergency Notification Solution, and the Integrated Messaging Server that allows the hospital to effectively manage and track messages as well as enable immediate response to emergency situations.

"Using the Ascom Wireless solution in conjunction with our nurse call system has enabled our nursing and support staff to respond to patient needs in a more timely and efficient manner", says Dave Lenart, Director of Facilities at Columbus Regional Hospital. "By providing phones to all caregiver levels, staff can communicate directly with one another to collaborate and respond to our patients' needs. We are now achieving staff's strong desire to spend more time at the bedside."

"We are delighted that Columbus Regional Hospital has chosen Ascom", says Tom McKearney, VP Marketing & Business Development at Ascom. "This new system provides their mobile work force with a wireless device capable of delivering automated text messages and alerts from multiple systems as well as a telephone. This new system will enhance productivity by providing quicker response to all types of requests. Quicker response results in increased patient satisfaction, more effective use of time, and faster decision-making, critical to healthcare professionals."
