JAKKS Pacific's Fly Wheels™ Lineup Jumps onto Toy Wishes 'Hot Dozen' List for 2005; Magic Glow Doodle Bear and Cabbage Patch Kids Babies are #1 Picks in the Plush and Doll Categories
Business Wire, Oct 10, 2005
MALIBU, Calif. -- JAKKS Pacific, Inc. (Nasdaq:JAKK) announced today that its Fly Wheels(TM) toy line, this year's newest toy sensation, was predicted to be one of the 12 hottest toys for the 2005 holiday season by Toy Wishes magazine, the ultimate guide to family entertainment. The Holiday 2005 issue of Toy Wishes, unveiled at the Toy Wishes Holiday Media Preview event in New York City last week, also features JAKKS Pacific's Radio Control Fly Wheels toy on the cover.
"We are honored that our Fly Wheels, Cabbage Patch Kids Babies and Magic Glow Doodle Bears toy lines were acknowledged as top holiday picks by Toy Wishes magazine -- with the Fly Wheels toy assortment included on the Hot Dozen list, and Magic Glow Doodle Bears and Cabbage Patch Kids Babies from our Play Along division as #1 picks and All Stars in the doll and plush categories," said Jack McGrath, senior vice president of operations, JAKKS Pacific, Inc. "The concept of Fly Wheels is so fun and innovative, it's extremely exciting to see the popularity of the line with consumers and that people have been embracing the new skateboard wheels, radio controlled Fly Wheels products and the Rapid Fire Launcher playset."
"Year after year, JAKKS Pacific continues to develop products that are both exciting and new to the toy industry," said Jim Silver, editor-in-chief of Toy Wishes. "Fly Wheels combine innovation and traditional play value to the boys category, and the highly collectible line can be enjoyed by all audiences -- everyone from boys aged 8 and up to adult auto enthusiasts will love Fly Wheels!"
Industry experts Jim Silver, editor-in-chief of Toy Wishes Holiday 2005, and Chris Byrne, "The Toy Guy," test and review thousands of new toys, games, puzzles and gifts each year to identify the very best children's products for the upcoming holiday season. These selections are announced through Toy Wishes magazine, and the very best of the best receive the Hot Dozen distinction -- the top 12 products predicted to be the season's bestsellers.
Michael Bernstein, JAKKS' senior vice president of boys marketing, added, "Fly Wheels toys have re-defined and set a new standard for performance in the toy vehicle category. We are very pleased to bring excitement back into the vehicle aisle. Fly Wheels has been an anchor that has given JAKKS' Road Champs(R) brand a significant increase in retail placement and business."
JAKKS Pacific's Fly Wheels toys have sold millions of 1:10 scale replica wheels and were one of this year's summer toy phenomena. The Fly Wheels line has expanded to Skate Wheels, Performance Sets, the Toys 'R' Us exclusive Rapid-Fire Launcher playset, and the Fly Wheels RC -- a high-tech, high-performance, full-function radio-controlled stunt machine! Fly Wheels RC lets kids interchange their wheels to change the performance and variety of high-speed stunts on and off road!
Doodle Bears, from JAKKS' Play Along division, is a unique toy line that combines the engaging activities of doodling and decorating with soft, plush items that can be washed for continuous doodling fun. Magic Glow(TM) Doodle Bears allow for doodling two different ways -- in the dark and in the light! Write secret messages and create designs with the washable markers, then use the Magic Glow Light Pen to write and expose notes in the dark. Hold the Doodle Bear up to the light, and then turn off the lights, and watch Doodle Bear glow!
This holiday season promises to be busy in the Cabbage Patch with the delivery of very cute, 14-inch Cabbage Patch Kids(R) Babies! Play Along continues to expand its award-winning line of these one-of-a-kind, lovable babies who are as diverse as the children who adopt and love them!
Other All Star acknowledgements and products featured in the magazine include, Play Along's Sky Dancers in the doll category and Care Bears Share a Story in plush, Road Champs' Custom Garage in vehicles, Flying Colors' If You Say Sew and Dora the Explorer Rolling Activity cases in the activities category, and multiple titles from JAKKS' award-winning TV Games product line, including Dora the Explorer TV Games, Disney Princesses TV Games, Nicktoons TV Games and Star Wars TV Games.
JAKKS' 2005 Hot Toys are available at mass and specialty retailers nationwide now.
