NEC America Vice President Elected to the National Spectrum Managers Association Board of Directors; Bruce Blain To Help Shape Industry Standards for Efficient Management of the Frequency Spectrum by the Wireless Telecommunications Community

IRVING, Texas -- NEC America, Inc. (NEC), a leading provider of microwave radio communications products, announced today that Bruce Blain, vice president of NEC's Radio Communications Systems Division has been elected to the National Spectrum Managers Association (NSMA) board of directors. The NSMA is a voluntary international association of top executives in the microwave and wireless telecommunication industries. It provides a forum to develop industry guidelines for the efficient use and management of the frequency spectrum by the wireless telecommunications community.
Having a strong background in the digital microwave radio industry, Bruce Blain will provide NSMA valuable insight on market trends, development issues, as well as manufacturing and industry standards. As an influential driver of NEC's Radio Communications Systems Division, managing all U.S. sales territories and implementing strategic sales initiatives, Mr. Blain's contribution as a Member of the NSMA Board of Directors will be to provide recommendations and counsel to regulatory bodies on matters affecting radio frequency spectrum policies.
The objectives of the NSMA are to develop technical and procedural responses for the coordination of wireless telecommunications systems and services; providing a linkage between government regulations and industry practice. The 15-member Board of Directors is responsible for approving all recommendations before they can be standardized.
