Richmond Federal Reserve I.T. Director Bruce J. Summers to Speak on Role of Information Technolgy in International Central Banking

RICHMOND, Va. -- Richmond Federal Reserve Director of Information Technology Bruce J. Summers will speak to the Greater Richmond Technology Council on the role of information technology in international central banking. His address is the focal point of the Council's October "Good Morning Technology" breakfast on Oct. 14, 2005 at 7:30am at The Place at Innsbrook in Glen Allen, Virginia.
Mr. Summers joined the Federal Reserve in 1974. His career at the Federal Reserve prior to assuming leadership for information technology has spanned a range of responsibilities including economic research, banking supervision and regulation, and risk management. He has also been active in the work of the International Monetary Fund and The World Bank aimed at reform of the financial and banking systems of emerging market economies, and has wide expertise in global banking and payment systems.
Mr. Summers has written extensively on payment systems and central banking issues. He contributed the chapter "Managing Central Bank I.T." to the book Central Bank Modernization, recently published by Central Banking Publications in London. He is also the editor of the book The Payment System: Design, Management, and Supervision, published by the International Monetary Fund in 1994.
