Unicon Presents Latest Online Campus & Community Technologies at EDUCAUSE 2005 Trade Show; Scheduled Presentations from Unicon, RedDot, LiveText, Sakai, uPortal, and Arizona State University

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Unicon Inc., the leading independent provider of enterprise portal, collaboration, learning, and integration technology for higher education institutions, will be presenting the latest technologies for online campuses and communities at its booth during the EDUCAUSE trade show in Orlando, Fla., Oct. 18-21, 2005. In addition to a preview of Unicon's new Academus v2.0 Enterprise Portal Solution for higher education, Unicon will host presentations from its technology partners, RedDot and LiveText, as well as representatives from the open source uPortal and Sakai projects. A representative from Arizona State University will also present an overview of the statewide deployment of uPortal and Sakai for all students in Arizona (K-12) called IDEAL.

Overview -- Partner Companies/Initiatives Presenting at Unicon's Booth
RedDot CMS (Content Management Solution) -- Enables all content creators, even those with no knowledge of basic Web design, with the ability to create and publish content online. As soon as these content creators publish their information, it becomes available via their Web site or portal.
LiveText -- College LiveText is a suite of Web-based tools that allow colleges and universities to develop, manage, and assess program and student achievements. From portfolios and coursework to assessments and accreditation data reporting, LiveText services assist hundreds of universities in meeting these demands.
Sakai Collaborative Learning Environment -- A community source software development effort to design, build, and deploy a new Collaboration and Learning Environment (CLE) for higher education. The technology consists of the Sakai application framework and associated course management software (CMS) tools and components that are designed to work together.
uPortal -- A free, sharable portal under development by institutions of higher education. This open source portal technology adds "customization" and "community" to the campus Web presence. Customization allows each user to define a unique and personal view of the campus Web. Community tools, such as chat, forums, survey, and so on, build relationships among campus constituencies.
IDEAL -- IDEAL (Integrated Data to Enhance Arizona's Learning), is a single location for all Arizona stakeholders to access educational data, resources, and services. The ultimate goal of IDEAL is to increase the academic achievement of all Arizona students. Through a single sign-in, educators will enter a personalized, customizable Web environment with immediate and continuous access to a vast array of online resources.
