Business Wire, Oct 12, 2005
SALT LAKE CITY -- The Fonix Speech Group, an operating division of Fonix(R) Corp. (OTCBB: FNIX), announces the release of Fonix VoiceDial(TM) 2.1 for Pocket PC Phone Edition devices running Windows Mobile 5.0. VoiceDial 2.1 is a convenient, user-friendly speech interface software solution for mobile phones that is compatible with Bluetooth headset technology. Original design manufacturers (ODMs) and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) can license VoiceDial for a per-unit royalty fee. End users may download the software for $15.95 at www.Handango.com or www.imate.com. Fonix VoiceDial 2.1 supports the following languages: English, French, German, Spanish and Italian.
"With VoiceDial 2.1, users may access mobile phone contacts via speech commands," said Tim K. Hong, VP, Fonix Mobile Wireless. "Windows Mobile-powered Pocket PC devices enabled with VoiceDial 2.1 allow users with Bluetooth headsets to push one button on the headset to initiate the VoiceDial software, eliminating the need to punch any buttons on the phone itself. Users may access phone contacts or dial phone numbers by digit. Not only does Fonix software make using a mobile phone more convenient, but it also makes it safer to use a phone in the car."

"Users love these new devices because they have so many features and functionalities," said Walt Nawrocki, senior VP and GM, The Fonix Speech Group. "However, their bulkiness relative to regular mobile phones make them a bit inconvenient to use as a phone. VoiceDial improves functionality and ease of use and eliminates the need to hold the device. Now users can leave the device in a briefcase, purse, and backpack or on a desk and still make calls. Fonix speech interface software makes communication easier and easier."
