Veterans Affairs Selects RS Information Systems for Information Security Work

MCLEAN, Va. -- RS Information Systems has been selected to deliver information security and other technology services, valued at more than $10 million, to the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Rodney P. Hunt, RSIS President and CEO, said the company was awarded five tasks, all through a Blanket Purchasing Agreement (BPA) with the VA Office of Cyber and Information Security (OCIS). He said the company's past performance played a large role in winning the new tasks.
"As our customer, the VA has seen the quality of our work for nearly two years and knows that we can be counted on," Hunt said. "We understand the importance of VA's mission and view our relationship as a true partnership."

The RSIS work includes:
--Developing a training program and course design for information security officers;
--Ongoing development of software VA uses to comply with reporting requirements of the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA);
--Expanding the functionality and capabilities the OCIS Intranet portal;
--Life-cycle operation and maintenance of VA's centralized enterprise antivirus system;
--And, engineering and implementing the pilot for products that would be used throughout VA to provide software distribution, policy compliance and reports, and asset inventory.
The work will be performed by more than 50 professionals at VA locations throughout the country.
RSIS already manages and supports VA's Virtual Private Network (VPN) infrastructure from a facility in Martinsburg, W.Va. There, 40 engineers and technicians support infrastructure such as VPN and Internet gateways. The work of the RSIS team is a major part of the VA Network Operations Center (NOC) in Martinsburg.
The VA provides federal benefits to eight million veterans, their family members and survivors. With a work force of over 225,000 employees, the VA is the largest civilian department in the federal government. The VA's OCIS is responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of veterans' private data; managing the flow of information throughout the enterprise; and ensuring department information systems are protected from fraud, waste, and abuse.
RSIS has nearly 100 federal contracts for which it delivers advanced technical and business solutions in information assurance, systems engineering, telecommunications, scientific support and management consulting.
A privately-held, African American-owned firm, RSIS is ranked nationally by Washington Technology as the 36th largest information technology contractor for the federal government. The company has been named Federal Contractor of the Year by the Professional Services Council.
