Hollywood Digital Arts Studio Transforms CBS Image For New Season; REZN8's Creativity and Experience A Seven-Time Winner With Entertainment Company Execs

HOLLYWOOD -- The 2005-06 season marks the seventh time CBS Entertainment has turned to Emmy award-winning digital design studio, REZN8, to reinvent their on-air image, including graphics and animations that promote the CBS brand, its primetime shows and on-air stars. CBS addresses its on-air image annually as it looks to freshen its identity and attract new advertisers and viewers. For seven of those years, they've turned to REZN8 because they can count on creative, on-target thinking.

"Each year we reach out to many agencies for ideas that will keep the CBS brand evolving," said Ron Scalera, executive vice president/creative director CBS Marketing Group. "REZN8 once again found what we were looking for and knocked us out. The full identity package they designed builds on our brand momentum and is attracting a wider range of viewers and advertisers than ever before."

The new graphics feature variations of a blue palette -- from a rich, marine blue for dramas to a light, powdery blue for comedies. The on-air look is also supported by glistening 3D titles and a dynamic, spirited movement of elements. Additionally, show titles create an unmistakable energy by streaming in waves, interacting with on-screen talent and flowing toward the viewer -- a subtle cross between oceanic waves and the film from a movie camera rolling off the reel. CBS began previewing the graphics to the public during the summer but launched the identity in full with the new season's shows in early September.

"We've got a highly creative and experienced team in place that understands CBS's expanding demographic and can really deliver what they are looking for," Jim Steinhaus, REZN8's executive producer, explained. "CBS is the # 1 network, and this year's look reinforces that strong, confident image."

REZN8's Creative Directors Seton Kim and Tom Palmer led the creative team as they did on the past six CBS makeovers, while Steinhaus served as the executive producer on the campaign. The team's work addressed the entire on-air presence for the network, from color, layout and animations to how the imagery works with affiliate station graphics.
