Tridia makes using Microsoft Remote Desktop and Windows Terminal Services Secure and Compliant; Gives Companies Centralized Control Over Remote Computer Access
Business Wire, Oct 17, 2005
ATLANTA -- Tridia Corporation announced the latest release of its solution for remote computer support and administration, iTivity 4.6. This release adds out-of-the-box support for Microsoft Remote Desktop and Windows Terminal Services to Tridia's server-based, secure remote access product.
"Until iTivity, access and security were always opposing objectives," stated Vince Frese, CEO Tridia Corporation. "Terminal Services is a good example." Using RDP alone requires opening port 3389 in the firewall, a practice which makes the system vulnerable. By contrast using Windows Terminal Services or Remote Desktop in conjunction with iTivity allows the firewall to remain intact. iTivity facilitates the connections using secure SSL connections.
iTivity uses centralized authentication to further increase security while simplifying the administration of local WTS configurations. iTivity can be configured to use existing NTLM, LDAP and PAM authentication servers to ensure only users known to the network are allowed access to the iTivity server and the remote systems accessible from it.
iTivity also helps customers ensure compliance with regulations such as HIPPA and Sarbanes-Oxley. The centralized iTivity server logs all user activity, making it clear who connected, when they connected and which services were accessed.
Other features new to iTivity release 4.6 include Support Domain Access and Group Privilege Access which simplify the management of access rights to customer computers for help desks and commercial support organizations. The new Secure Dial feature ensures that remote servers with attached modems will only respond to authorized users connecting through the iTivity server. This feature is especially important to Value Added Resellers and IT Solution Providers who sell to and service customers in regulated industries.
