BankAtlantic Names Mark Begelman Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer; Former President and Chief Operating Officer of Office Depot Joins Executive Team at Florida's Most Convenient Bank

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- BankAtlantic, Florida's Most Convenient Bank, today announced that Mark Begelman, former President and Chief Operating Officer for Office Depot and founder/former Chief Executive Officer of Mars Music, has been named Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer. Begelman will be responsible for all aspects of BankAtlantic's marketing and advertising strategies and will also manage new store real estate and construction efforts.
Begelman has more than 30 years of executive experience, and was twice named Ernst and Young's "Entrepreneur of the Year" and Financial News' CEO of the Year. Most notably, as President and Chief Operating Officer of Office Depot, April 1991 through May 1995, he grew the company's store base from 127 to 467 stores and increased revenue from $900 million to $4.5 billion in four years. In addition, Begelman served as Founder and CEO of Mars Music, December 1995 through October 2002, opening 52 musical instrument superstores.
