Karta Wins Gold Brandon Hall Excellence in Learning Award
Business Wire, Oct 19, 2005
SAN ANTONIO -- Karta Technologies was recognized with a national award for a program the company developed to train Air Force medical personnel on critical procedures and systems for the C-21 aircraft. Karta's Aeromedical Evacuation (AE) Computer-Based/Web-Based Training (CBT/WBT) courseware provides just-in-time training for Air Force active-duty, National Guard and Reserve medical professionals to support nationwide and global medical missions transporting injured and sick military personnel and civilians to critical care facilities.
The company received a Gold Brandon Hall Excellence in Learning Award during an awards ceremony in Long Beach, Calif. as part of the 2005 Training Fall Conference & Expo, held October 17-18.
"More than 2,500 Aeromedical Evacuation crew members are, without a doubt, better prepared to deploy to austere locations worldwide and render quality patient care to wounded warriors defending our nation's freedom," said Senior Master Sergeant Johnnie Wilson, Superintendent AE Operations and Aircrew Training at Headquarters Air Mobility Command, of the Karta courseware.
The C-21 Aeromedical Evacuation CBT/WBT is the fourth course in a suite of courses Karta developed for flight nurses and medical technicians for the C-130, C-17, and KC-135 aircraft. Karta redesigned the C-21 courseware to improve the quality of training provided to the Air Force crewmembers using a 3-D environment, photos, graphics, video, interactive exercises, and scenario-based training. The C-21 CBT/WBT received widespread dissemination in April 2005 and helped qualify medical personnel for AE missions on the C-21.
Some 2,500 Air Force medical personnel have already received Karta CBT/WBT training, including many now supporting evacuation missions following Hurricane Katrina.
The Excellence in Learning Awards are presented by Brandon Hall Research, one of the performance and training industry's leading research and consulting firms in training and development. Now in its eleventh year, the awards program showcases exceptional work in innovative learning.
"This highly-esteemed award symbolizes our dedication to providing quality products and services and our commitment to developing easily deployable training solutions to our clients, federal and commercial, on demand," said CEO and President of Karta, G.P. Singh, Ph.D., P.E.
This year, entries were submitted in three categories, Custom Content, Innovative Technology, and Outstanding Case Studies. In 2005 a total of 210 entries, representing 16 countries, were submitted. The entries were evaluated by independent judges with expertise in instructional design and learning technology from 47 countries around the world.
