World Champion Skier Bode Miller to Create & Publish Wireless Video Games for AEGF Mobile Games' NBC Sports Label; Bode Miller: ''Now I Can Ski Anywhere in the World''
Business Wire, Oct 20, 2005
NEW YORK -- AEGF Mobile Games and NBC Sports today announced that reigning double world champion skier Bode Miller has signed a two-year, worldwide exclusive license to create and publish Bode Miller skiing games for mobile communications devices such as phones and PDA's. Under the deal, NBC Sports and AEGF will use Miller's name and likeness, as well as his creative input to create mobile games that attract his avid fans, as well as the casual gamer. The announcement was made today by Marcus Ticotin, Principal, AEGF Mobile Games and Ken Schanzer, President, NBC Sports.
"I am really psyched about this mobile game," said Miller. "I am on my phone and PDA all the time on the road -- now I can ski anywhere in the world."
This is the first game under the recently announced agreement between AEGF and NBC Sports. The game will be branded and supported by NBC Sports to take advantage of Miller's phenomenal success on the world cup ski circuit, including his 2005 World Cup Overall Title (a first for a U.S. skier since 1983) and his highly anticipated competition at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. The game is being built using Miller's creative input and focuses on his dynamic style and abilities featuring both challenging and casual gameplay, as well as single and multiplayer modes. The first Bode Miller games will be available in January 2006.
"Bode's amazing accomplishments and star power place him in the upper echelons of the world's athletes," Ticotin said. "Creating and selling mobile games based on his great abilities and style is a great thrill for our team, and we believe playing them will be the same for the playing public. By teaming up with NBC Sports, the potential for attracting players is enormous."
Schanzer said: "It's a natural extension of the NBC Sports brand to partner with one of the greatest skiers in the world on our first wireless video game. Bode has been instrumental in the development of the new game that is designed to showcase his unique and exciting skiing style. We look forward to introducing more games based on a variety of sports in the coming months."
The deal was negotiated for Miller by Lowell Taub of the SFX Sports Group.

About Bode Miller
Bode Miller is the reigning No. 1 alpine ski racer in the world, the first time a U.S. skier has held such a distinction since 1983. Miller's 19 World Cup victories are second all-time for a U.S. ski racer. Miller's 2004-05 season was arguably one of the best the sport has ever seen. In addition to his overall title, Miller became one of only five men to win each of alpine ski racing's five disciplines in a career (Downhill, Super G, Giant Slalom, Slalom and Combined) and also became only the second man in the sport's history to win the four major disciplines in a single season. On top of those feats, in 2005 Bode won the Super G World Cup title and Downhill and Super G Gold at the World Championships. Miller boasts three other World Championship medals (2 Golds and 1 Silver in 2003), two Olympic medals (2 Silvers in 2002) along with one other World Cup Globe (2004 Giant Slalom). Bode was a 2005 ESPY nominee for "Best Male Athlete" and won the 2002 Superstars competition. Bode enters the 2006 Torino Olympics as a legitimate threat to win five individual Olympic gold medals, which has only been achieved once in Olympic history. Winning four medals would make Bode the most decorated U.S. Winter Olympian of all time (tie). Bode is an avid golfer, tennis and soccer player and spends his free time at home in New Hampshire where he grew up and where his family runs Tamarack Tennis camp and where he serves as the Director of Skiing at the Bretton Woods Mountain Resort.
