Imprivata Promotes Omar Hussain to President and CEO; Key Product Strategist Tapped to Run Company in High-Growth Phase
Business Wire, Oct 24, 2005
LEXINGTON, Mass. -- Imprivata(R), Inc., the enterprise Single Sign-on (ESSO) appliance company, today announced that Omar Hussain has been promoted to President and Chief Executive Officer of Imprivata. Formerly Imprivata's Senior Vice President of Marketing and Product Management, Hussain replaces former CEO, Patrick Morley, who will take a senior position with Corel Corporation, a leading global software provider. Hussain will also join Imprivata's board of directors.
"Imprivata has become known for attacking the Single Sign-on market with an innovative approach to solving customer's password problems," said Hussain. "Our award-winning product, OneSign, is a game changer -- fast becoming the preferred alternative to complex, costly Single Sign-on approaches. The company is well positioned for the future with a rapidly growing North American and European customer base, and over 50 resellers and distributors. I couldn't be more excited about leading the company during this high-growth phase."
"Omar is the ideal choice to lead Imprivata," said David Barrett, general partner, Polaris Ventures. "He has been responsible for driving Imprivata's product and market strategy. This background, along with his broad-based senior management experience, brings the optimal blend of market strategy, leadership and operational discipline to his new post at Imprivata."
Hussain brings more that 20 years of experience in software start-ups to his role at Imprivata, as well as a proven track record in growing and managing global software companies. Prior to joining Imprivata, Omar was the founder and CEO of Anchorsilk, an innovative sell-side e-commerce software company. Before that, Omar was general manager of Compuware Corporation's (CPWR) NuMega Labs, where he was responsible for the integration of NuMega Windows business into Compuware while successfully growing revenues and managing operations for a $35 million, 170 person business unit. Omar was also part of the management team at Open Environment Corporation, where as VP marketing and head of business development, he played a key role in the company's growth from a start-up to a public company and was also responsible for the sale of the company to Borland.
