New Driver for Samsung OneNAND and NAND Memory Validated on Microsoft Windows CE 5.0, Windows Mobile 5.0
Business Wire, Oct 24, 2005
SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., the world leader in advanced memory technology, has announced that its Pocket Store II(TM) driver for NAND and OneNAND(TM) Flash memory has been validated by Microsoft Corp. on Windows CE 5.0 and Windows Mobile 2005 operating systems. The driver and translation software provide optimal integration between the main OS file system and the various chipsets included in handset designs. The OS is targeted primarily at mobile phones, but also will work with PDAs, PMPs and MP3 players.
"We are in lock-step with Microsoft Windows to demonstrate Microsoft's clear support for NAND Flash solutions," said Jon Kang, executive vice president, Technical Marketing, Samsung Semiconductor. "Our Pocket Store II driver will make it much easier for designers to use OneNAND with Windows CE 5.0 and Windows Mobile 5.0."
"As the CE industry shifts more toward Flash memory, our validation of Samsung's Pocket Store II(TM) driver for Windows CE 5.0 devices strengthens Microsoft's relationship with the industry's largest NAND Flash memory producer, creating opportunities for exciting new devices based on both platforms, including Samsung's OneNAND and NAND Flash memory," said Jonas Hasselberg, group product manager, Windows Mobile and Embedded Division at Microsoft Corp.
Microsoft validated the Samsung Pocket Store II driver and Flash translation layer using its Windows CE Test Kit for Windows Mobile 5.0 and Windows CE 5.0.
