The Winning Bid Announces New eBay® Search Tool

Business Wire, Oct 25, 2005

MENLO PARK, Calif. -- The Winning Bid(TM) (the-winning-bid.com) today announced the introduction of a new eBay search website designed to make searching eBay easy. The site uses the latest AJAX technology to provide search word suggestions and simple slider controls to limit price and time ranges to quickly and easily sort through the millions of eBay items to find exactly what you want.

"The biggest problem with eBay's search is that you end up with thousands of items to choose from and it's just overwhelming," said Roger Baldwin, co-founder. "The-winning-bid.com lets you quickly narrow down the search results to a manageable number making it easy to find exactly what you want," he said. "We have eliminated the complexity of eBay's search tool without sacrificing the power."

The interface is intuitive. Simply type the first few letters describing an item into the search box and the-winning-bid.com instantly offers several suggested searches. You can then select from the suggested searches or continue typing to further refine your search. Once you have selected a group of items, you can narrow down your choice by selecting price or time ranges using simple slider controls. You can also choose to have the results sorted by time or price and can limit the searches to specific eBay categories as well. International support is included -- you can choose to search in eBay sites in 12 different countries.

Search results are displayed in squares with the item's picture, current price, time left on auction and Buy-It-Now information displayed in each square. You can choose to display from 12 to 100 results and you can resize your browser window to display dozens of items side by side making it easy to narrow down your search. Once you have found the items you are searching for, you simply click on the item's picture to be taken to eBay where you can then bid and buy the item.
