SEPATON Improves Storage Density and Reduces Cost Per Gigabyte for Its Data Protection Platform
Business Wire, Oct 26, 2005
ORLANDO, Fla. -- SEPATON, Inc., the emerging leader in high-performance data protection solutions, today announced at Storage Networking World, Booth # PP6, that its S2100-ES2 platform of data protection solutions features significant enhancements in storage density and cost, providing customers with a superior solution for backup and disaster recovery.
The SEPATON S2100-ES2 Series 400 is shipping today with 400 Gigabyte (GB) drives. This new configuration yields sixty percent higher density while reducing the hardware footprint and substantially lowering the cost per Gigabyte. The unit scales to more than 1 PB usable capacity and speeds up to 1200 Megabytes (MB) per second. In the future, additional nodes can be modularly added to increase performance. It currently supports up to 5000 cartridges, 256 drives and 64 libraries in a single appliance. An entry level rack ready version of the product is also available which scales to 30 Terabytes (TB) and is fully upgradeable to the larger ES2 configuration.
"SEPATON helped pioneer the market for Virtual Tape Libraries and is a leader in this space with over 1 PB of protected data installed at customer sites," said Tony Asaro, senior analyst with the Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG). "We feel this is a major milestone for the company and it clearly shows that customers are embracing its products. ESG Research indicates that customers are extremely interested in VTL solutions but are looking for more capacity for less cost. Listening and responding to its customers, this is exactly what SEPATON is bringing to the table with this announcement."
"SEPATON continues to lead the industry with superior product performance at the most competitive price," said Mike Worhach, CEO of SEPATON, Inc. "As customers achieve dramatic performance and manageability improvements with our products, they are quickly expanding the scope of deployments to a larger set of data across multiple departments and divisions, often globally. The 400 GB product delivers new capacity and performance in backup for far less cost than other approaches."
Pricing and Availability
