AmSurg Corp. Named to Forbes ``200 Best Small Companies'' List for 6th Consecutive Year

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Ken P. McDonald, President and Chief Executive Officer of AmSurg Corp. (NASDAQ: AMSG), today announced the Company has been selected for the annual listing by Forbes of the "200 Best Small Companies" for the sixth consecutive year. AmSurg ranked 136th on the 2005 list based on, among other measures, Forbes' calculations that AmSurg has produced a five-year average of 26% growth in earnings per share, 23% growth in revenues and 11% return on equity.

AmSurg Corp. develops, acquires and manages physician practice-based ambulatory surgery centers in partnership with surgical and other group practices. At September 30, 2005, AmSurg owned a majority interest in 141 centers and had four centers under development.
