Insource America Teams Up with Adecco to Help Hurricane Victims; Katrina Relief Job Bank Provides Re-Employment Services
Business Wire, Oct 3, 2005
HOLBROOK, N.Y. -- Insource America, the Holbrook-based IT support company, which recently announced its plans to donate technical support services to companies and organizations crippled by Hurricane Katrina, has teamed up with Adecco (NYSE:ADO), the global leader in human resources and staffing services, to provide a re-employment solution for hurricane victims. The Insource America Katrina Relief Job Bank boasts a web portal designed to provide a practical vehicle for displaced workers to find new work wherever they may be located.
What makes the Insource America Katrina Relief Job Bank so valuable is that it is supported by a US-based help desk staffed by employees 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Moreover, as many Katrina victims can't access their resumes, they can call a toll-free number at the Insource America Help Desk to orally relay their resume over the phone to help desk staff.
The site, www.insourceamerica.net, provides a place for job seekers to post resumes and for employers to publicize their open positions. Adecco is among the first employers to populate the site with jobs--more than 3,000 positions to start, with thousands more following, from Adecco and other employers. Job seekers can search for jobs in specific geographic areas, including Gulf Coast states, or based on keywords. Employers may search resumes for skill sets that are requirements for their employment vacancies.
Help desk support analysts will build the job seekers' resumes online and post them to the Job Bank site, where they will be available for perusal by participating companies across the nation. Additionally, Insource America Help Desk staff will do a search online of available opportunities that match the job seeker's criteria, while they are on the phone with Katrina victims. If the job seeker indicates interest in a particular job, the Help Desk staff will immediately forward the job seeker's resume to the employer for review. They will also use the office locator on Adecco's web site to direct job seekers to the Adecco office nearest them.
"We want to be the eyes, ears, voice, and in all reality, the Internet access for Katrina victims who are looking for employment," explained Bob Venero, president of Insource America. "This is a lifeline for good, hard-working people, many of whom have lost homes, jobs, and more importantly, loved ones. They need to rebuild their lives, and one of the first steps will be finding employment so they can support themselves and their families. Insource America was founded on the principle of putting people back to work in America. This is the next step in the evolution of that principle, and we are dedicated to helping these folks help themselves."
The use of phones in addition to the Internet, while seemingly archaic in today's hyper-technical culture, is essential to this program's success. "The fact that people can simply call a toll-free number and orally convey their skill sets and employment histories to create resumes that will be disseminated to prospective employers is incredibly valuable to these folks," explained Venero. "It's one less thing they have to worry about in a veritable sea of worries and challenges."
Joyce Russell, chief operating officer of Adecco USA, says, "When Insource America approached Adecco about this initiative, we immediately saw the importance of posting our jobs on the site and making our nationwide network available to their help desk staff and the Katrina victims they are serving. Adecco's traveling recruiting teams have already found employment for hundreds of Katrina evacuees by recruiting them directly at shelters across the Southeast and elsewhere, and this is another way we can assist in this essential step in rebuilding their lives."
Individuals who have lost their jobs as a result of Hurricane Katrina and are seeking employment, as well as employers who would like to recruit employees through the Insource America Katrina Relief Job Bank, should visit www.insourceamerica.net or call the toll-free number (866) 383-5193 for more information.
