In a move to encourage more consumers to discover the benefits of high-speed Internet access and drive broadband adoption, SBC Communications Inc. (NYSE: SBC) today announced new lower pricing and shorter commitment terms for SBC Yahoo! DSL Pro. The move gives dial-up Internet subscribers and cable modem subscribers an even stronger reason to make the switch to SBC Yahoo! DSL. New pricing and terms will be effective Nov. 1.
The limited-time-only price is now $21.99 a month for six months (other monthly charges apply: see details) with a six-month term for new residential subscribers who order SBC Yahoo! DSL Pro (1.5 -3.0 Mbps) service online or through select retailers or through any SBC sales channel when ordered as part of a qualifying bundle. Following the six-month term, the ongoing price will be $34.99 a month for month-to-month service - a 41% decrease from the previous month-to-month pricing for SBC Yahoo! DSL Pro service.
The promotion is the latest SBC initiative designed to encourage customers to make the move to the fastest residential SBC Yahoo! DSL service. With SBC Yahoo! DSL Pro, customers can easily share large files like movies and music, and experience online gaming with other broadband users around the world.
New residential customers can now receive Pro service for a mere $5 monthly difference in price from SBC DSL Yahoo! DSL Express service. SBC Yahoo! DSL Express (384 Kbps - 1.5 Mbps) is available for $16.99 a month (other monthly charges apply: see details) with a six-month term for new residential subscribers who order online or through select retailers or through any SBC sales channel when ordered as part of a qualifying bundle. Following the six-month term, the ongoing price will be $29.99 a month for month-to-month service - a 40% decrease from the previous month-to-month pricing for SBC Yahoo! DSL Express service.
"Internet users who crave greater online speeds when shopping for the holidays, who want to stay connected with friends and family, watch videos and listen to music will be in luck this holiday season," said Scott Helbing, senior vice president, SBC Consumer Marketing. "There has never been a better time to make the switch to our fastest residential speed."
In addition to industry-leading affordability, SBC Yahoo! DSL customers receive 2GB (gigabytes) of e-mail account storage for their main account and each of 10 subaccounts; unlimited photo storage and up to 760MB of briefcase space.
In addition, SBC Yahoo! DSL customers benefit from industry-leading safety and security features including anti-virus software, anti-spy and pop-up blocker, as well as award-winning parental controls.
The offers for either SBC Yahoo! DSL Pro or SBC Yahoo! DSL Express service include a $49.99 mail-in rebate toward a $79.99 SBC Yahoo! DSL Wireless Networking kit or a $49.99 DSL modem.
Beginning Nov. 1, all new SBC Yahoo! DSL customers will also be eligible to get six months of Yahoo! Music Unlimited free. The service gives subscribers access to a catalog of more than 1 million songs on demand and personalized music recommendations.
It also enables subscribers to build a music library, share music with other subscribers through Yahoo! Messenger, create playlists and meet other music fans through the Yahoo! Music community -- all for free. In addition, subscribers can purchase permanent, burnable downloads for a discounted 79 cents per song and transfer as many subscription tracks as they want onto their compatible portable music devices for an additional fee.
"SBC companies are committed to leading the industry in the rapidly growing online music and entertainment segments," said Helbing. "Yahoo! Music Unlimited highlights the best of SBC Yahoo! features and premium services to provide personalization and community features unlike anything else in the marketplace."
