CipherTrust Named Global Market Leader Second Year in a Row by Leading Analyst Firm; Quantitative Research Shows CipherTrust Revenue Greater Than Combination of Four Closest Vendors

Business Wire, Oct 4, 2005

ATLANTA -- CipherTrust, Inc., the global market leader in messaging security, today announced that IDC, a leading provider of technology analysis, confirmed CipherTrust(R) is the clear global market leader in the secure content management (SCM) appliance market for the second consecutive year. According to IDC(1), CipherTrust increased its revenue by 93 percent to significantly extend its lead over other vendors. In the SCM appliance market, CipherTrust commands 20 percent market share, with its revenue greater than the combined revenue of the four closest vendors.

"CipherTrust is the clear market leader in messaging security appliances, a primary component of secure content management," said Brian Burke, Research Manager for Security Products at IDC. "E-mail is the single most widely used point in which information comes into and out of an organization, making its protection critical. CipherTrust's comprehensive, layered approach consolidates point solutions for both inbound and outbound e-mail security, and its market leadership position is indicative of the Company's solid execution and understanding of the overall messaging security needs of today's enterprises."

SCM, as defined by IDC, is comprised of three product areas: Web filtering, anti-virus and messaging security. Messaging security includes policy-based content security solutions designed to secure, monitor, filter and block threats, and to comply with government and industry regulations and enforce corporate policy. IDC's report states that major virus and worm outbreaks, continued spam volume increases, the recent surge in e-mail phishing attacks, corporate deadlines for compliance, and the explosive growth of spyware fueled the growth for SCM security solutions. Additionally, IDC believes zombie machines, computers controlled remotely by spammers, will continue to grow as the preferred delivery tool for spammers and be used to send phishing scams, spread viruses and steal personal information.

"Being named the clear market share leader by IDC for the second straight year is a great honor and achievement for CipherTrust," said Jay Chaudhry, CEO, Founder and Chairman at CipherTrust. "Many companies claim market leadership, but IDC's quantitative research shows that CipherTrust's revenue is greater than our next four direct competitors combined. That is true market leadership that will continue to benefit our customers and partners worldwide."
