Latest NMS Communications and LogicaCMG Ringback Service for Vodafone Launched in Greece; Vodafone Greece's 4.2 million subscribers can now personalize their callers' experiences
Business Wire, Sept 12, 2005
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- NMS Communications (NASDAQ: NMSS) and LogicaCMG (LSE: LOG) today announced yet another joint ringback commercial launch, as Vodafone Greece, a subsidiary of Vodafone Group Plc, the world's largest mobile telecommunications group, introduced its customers to ringback tones. Vodafone Greece's ringback tone service is based on NMS's MyCaller(TM) personalized mobile entertainment platform (www.nmscommunications.com/MyCaller). As with previous Vodafone operator company deployments, LogicaCMG is responsible for the implementation, integration and maintenance of the solution.

Ringback tones allow mobile phone subscribers to replace the usual "ring, ring" sound that callers hear with the latest music hits, sound clips and other media chosen by the subscriber. Ringback services first gained popularity in Asia, where they're now ubiquitous, and have rapidly gained momentum across Europe and the United States as more and more callers experience this new service through the music or sounds their friends have chosen for them to hear.
"The MyCaller ringback offering, with its high quality audio, has been proven to perform flawlessly in operator networks around the world, unlike other offerings in the market," said Michalis Melachrinidis, value added services senior manager of Vodafone Greece. "Most important, the MyCaller-based service provides a fun and satisfying experience for subscribers and their callers and is clearly a service to which customers quickly become quite attached."
Unlike ring tones, which reside in the handset and depend on having models with specific features, the ringback tone service resides on the telecom provider's network. Every mobile customer, regardless of handset, can use the ringback tones service, and all of their callers, regardless of whether they're calling from a fixed-line or mobile phone, will hear the ringback that the customer has chosen for them to hear. What the caller hears depends on the personal ringback profile previously chosen and set by the Vodafone customer. The service allows customers to set their choices depending on who is calling and when. Ringback preferences may be set easily via Web, SMS, IVR and the Vodafone live! portal.
"Customers are demanding personalized content to enhance their mobile experience, and MyCaller is just the first of several mobile content applications NMS has planned for rollout in the next few months," said Brian Demers, vice president, Mobile Applications, NMS Communications. "As the preferred supplier of ringback solutions to Vodafone globally, NMS and LogicaCMG are delighted to have another successful implementation within the Vodafone Group."
The market-proven solution from NMS and LogicaCMG is cost-effective for operators to implement, helps to attract today's youth and teen demographic and helps to retain existing subscribers. Other Vodafone operator companies currently offering MyCaller ringback tones to their customers include Vodafone Hungary, Swisscom Mobile, Vodafone Portugal and Vodafone Netherlands.
