WilTel Enhances Managed Security Portfolio with Counterpane; New Alliance Adds New Services, Increases Flexibility
Business Wire, Sept 12, 2005
TULSA, Okla. & MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. -- WilTel Communications announced today that it has enhanced its portfolio of Managed Security Services (MSS) through an alliance with Counterpane Internet Security, Inc., the world's leading protector of networked information and the inventor of outsourced security monitoring.
WilTel is expanding its enterprise security offering of intrusion detection, firewall and vulnerability scanning services to include intrusion prevention and managed e-mail security services. All security services are available either individually or bundled within a complete security solution. Multiple equipment options enable customers to purchase, rent or utilize existing hardware giving them the flexibility to retain control of select portions of their security infrastructure or outsource all of it to WilTel.
"Counterpane enabled the addition of intrusion prevention and managed e-mail security to our security suite to create a comprehensive suite of security services," said Tony Tomae, senior vice president of marketing for WilTel. "The key is providing our enterprise customers with the best possible security solutions, whether they're a large enterprise customer that wants to enhance their in-house capabilities, or a smaller company that requires a completely managed solution."
"The increase of security threats combined with more complex communications needs require constant surveillance of a corporation's distributed network. WilTel's industry leading communications solutions combined with Counterpane's Managed Security Services help customers attain an unprecedented level of availability while providing security for companies with smaller budgets and fewer resources," said Doug Howard, vice president of service and delivery at Counterpane.
WilTel is the wide-area networking specialist for enterprise, carriers, the federal government and media and entertainment companies. WilTel provides enterprise customers with an expanding portfolio of solutions designed to meet specific needs, including extending Ethernet local-area networks (LAN) across the WAN with fully managed security and no need for protocol conversions.
