Business Wire, Sept 13, 2005
BURBANK, Calif. -- Following the success of "Samantha: An American Girl Holiday," Warner Home Video (WHV) will offer consumers another classic American Girl story with the DVD release of "Felicity: An American Girl Adventure" on December 6. The full-length live-action movie, based on American Girl's best-selling 6-book series featuring Felicity, a 10-year old girl growing up in Colonial America, also will air on The WB Tuesday, November 29 at 8:00 p.m./ET/PT.
The "Felicity: An American Girl Adventure" DVD will retail for $19.97. A gift pack will also be available for $24.90 SRP offering the DVD with a bracelet that features Felicity's horse Penny and foal Patriot.
"The response we received for last year's DVD release of 'Samantha: An American Girl Holiday' was overwhelming and releasing its follow-up on DVD was a natural," said Dorinda Marticorena, WHV Vice President, Kids and Sports Marketing. "Family members of all ages will enjoy watching this beautiful film. Felicity's story is heartwarming, timeless and inspirational; young girls everywhere will be able to relate to her just like they did to Samantha."
"Felicity: An American Girl Adventure" focuses on Felicity Merriman, a ten-year-old girl who's as spirited and independent as the American Colonies she lives in. When Felicity meets Penny, a beautiful copper-colored mare, she knows with all her heart that she must free Penny from her cruel owner. Felicity desperately wishes for that same sureness of heart about the rumors of revolution swirling through Williamsburg. Felicity's father believes that the colonies should be free from England's rule, but her beloved grandfather and her best friend Elizabeth both support the king. With fiercely conflicting loyalties dividing the colonists, something as simple as a cup of tea could divide Felicity from her best friend forever. As Christmastide draws near, Felicity struggles to hold her family and friends close, and to find ways for love and friendship to rise above the growing conflict.
"Felicity: An American Girl Adventure" stars Shailene Woodley ("Jack & Bobby," "The O.C.") as Felicity Merriman, John Schneider ("Smallville," "Dukes of Hazzard") as Mr. Merriman and Marcia Gay Harden ("Pollock," "Mystic River") as Mrs. Merriman.
Special Features on the DVD include:
--"On Set with Felicity": Exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with Shailene Woodley.
--"Felicity's Williamsburg": Movie actors Shailene Woodley and Katie Henney lead viewers on a tour of Felicity's hometown of Williamsburg, Virginia, now a living history museum.
