ImageWare® Systems Provides ID Badging Software to FEMA to Secure Area & Control Personnel Involved in Hurricane Katrina Recovery Effort

Business Wire, Sept 15, 2005

SAN DIEGO -- ImageWare(R) Systems (AMEX:IW), a world leading developer and provider of identity management solutions, today announced that the company is providing several copies of its ID badging software to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in support of the Hurricane Katrina Recovery Effort.

ImageWare's ID badging software will assist FEMA with the management and control of disaster zones and badging of FEMA employees and volunteers.

ImageWare's photo ID software will enable FEMA to create digital photo ID badges, combining database, image capture, point-and-click hardware set-up, and badge printing all from within one user-friendly interface.

"The devastation is unprecedented in U.S. history. Given our long-standing relationship with FEMA, we are proud to apply our expertise and solutions to help the tremendous effort currently underway to save lives, sustain life, and assist law enforcement agencies who are working diligently, day and night, to return those lives that have been so seriously affected by this natural disaster back to normal," said Jim Miller, Chairman and CEO, ImageWare Systems Inc.

ImageWare has decades of experience in the development of large-scale public and private identification and related ID management programs. In addition, ImageWare is currently looking at the best ways to assist federal agencies on addressing the needs of public health officials in identifying the countless number of deceased victims of Hurricane Katrina through the use of the company's biometric engine technology, which is currently employed by the Mexican government to assist its citizens in the identification of missing and deceased relatives who have crossed the border into the U.S.

FEMA currently employs ImageWare's ID badging software for producing internal credentials as well as deploying the software in support of disaster areas worldwide.
