Revivio Announces General Availability of CPS 1200 Replication Module; Integration of Replication and Continuous Data Protection Offers Highest Levels of Disaster Recovery Capability

Business Wire, Sept 19, 2005

SAN DIEGO & LEXINGTON, Mass. -- Revivio(R), Inc., a leading provider of continuous data protection (CDP) technology, today announced the general availability of the Revivio Continuous Protection (CPS) Replication Module, enabling companies to comply with stringent disaster recovery (DR) requirements by providing the ability to instantly restore critical data at remote sites. Revivio will highlight its new DR solution at this week's Disaster Recovery Journal's Fall World 2005, taking place September 18 - 21, 2005 at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel and Marina, San Diego, CA in booth #17.

The Replication Module is an add-on to Revivio's groundbreaking Continuous Protection System (CPS 1200). The CPS 1200 is an enterprise-class continuous data protection solution allowing companies to instantly restore data to any point in time, and to recover business applications in just minutes.

The Replication Module allows multiple CPS 1200 systems, located in geographically dispersed locations, to protect a unified data set. Operating independently, each appliance can instantly provide a copy of the data - exactly as it existed at any chosen moment in time - without regard for the data's original physical location. If one site is impacted by a disaster, for example, a copy of the data that had been physically residing at the impacted site is instantly made available at the backup location located hundreds or thousands of miles away.

Combining CDP's ability to deliver infinitely granular recovery points, with replication across vast distances, Revivio's CPS 1200 Replication solution offers superior data protection, eliminates data synchronization or corruption issues and resolves the recovery challenges that are common with long distance replication.

"We believe a major driving force for continuous data protection is the increased demand for stringent disaster recovery protocols," said John McArthur, group vice president and general manager, information infrastructure and enabling technologies, at IDC. "Companies are attempting to comply with disaster recovery requirements, but the severe limitations and high expense of protecting data over distances has made the task challenging. Companies are evaluating CDP as a solution because of its potential to more efficiently and cost effectively support business continuity."

"By adding time and distance to the data protection equation, Revivio now offers customers the ability to recover any data to any point in time, anywhere," stated Kirby Wadsworth, senior vice president of marketing and business development for Revivio. "For the first time, customers can confidently recover operations separated by the vast distances required for disaster resiliency."
