Business Wire, Sept 2, 2005

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- HP (NYSE:HPQ)(Nasdaq:HPQ) outgrew the total disk storage market by 4 percentage points in the second quarter of 2005, according to market data released today by IDC.(1)

HP's worldwide total disk storage systems factory revenue increased by 13.9 percent year-over-year for the quarter.

Major new storage product releases and portfolio enhancements over the last several months helped HP maintain the No. 1 position in worldwide total disk storage revenue for the 13th consecutive quarter, with 23.5 percent market share and more than $1.3 billion dollars in revenue in a $5.6 billion market in the period.

The report also indicated that HP tied for the No. 1 position in revenue in the open storage area network (SAN) and iSCSI market with 24.8 percent market share. HP also held the No. 1 market position in total open SAN unit shipments.
