Red Hat Extends Partner Testing Around Enterprise Storage; Red Hat and HP Establish Performance Test Lab to Help Enterprise Customers Deploy and Manage Open Source Solutions Featuring Red Hat GFS and HP Servers and Storage
Business Wire, Sept 21, 2005
SAN FRANCISCO -- Red Hat, Inc. (NASDAQ:RHAT), the world's leading provider of open source solutions to the enterprise, announced today that they have established a joint performance lab with HP to address the needs of customers deploying enterprise storage solutions.
The new Storage Solutions and Performance Test Lab will be located at Red Hat's headquarters in Raleigh, NC. Today's announcement builds upon the companies' recent announcement that they would deliver a bundle to include HP Serviceguard for Linux with Red Hat Global File System (GFS).
The objectives of the lab include testing and configuring of solutions using the products from the portfolio of both companies, including Red Hat Global File System (GFS) and HP StorageWorks and Serviceguard. Key areas of focus will be performance and integration testing of application solutions, in order to produce best practices, solution guides, and white papers to assist customers with the deployment of storage solutions across Linux environments. Additionally, the lab will serve as a forum for customers to visit and preview current and future technologies from Red Hat and HP.
"Tested, proven and certified solutions are essential for enterprise customers, especially when it comes to deploying storage," said Todd Barr, Director of Red Hat Storage Solutions. "Through this new joint integration lab, we will demonstrate the value and performance of our integrated storage solutions from top to bottom. Red Hat and HP are proving together, once again, that we are focusing on delivering best-in-class Linux solutions that can simplify, and genuinely improve our customers' IT infrastructures."
"HP and Red Hat have long worked together to offer open source customers easy-to-integrate, tested solutions that can be deployed with confidence," said Kyle Fitze, Director of Marketing, HP StorageWorks SAN Division, HP. "As open source solutions move further into the network, this joint performance lab, focusing on open industry-standard storage solutions, will continue to enable customers to keep up with the demand for robust open source solutions across the stack."
