UPEK® Continues Expansion of Integrated Biometric Fingerprint Security Across Notebook Line of Leading PC Manufacturer; Lenovo Offers UPEK's TouchStrip™ Fingerprint Authentication Solution on Select New Widescreen ThinkPad Notebooks
Business Wire, Sept 23, 2005
BERKELEY, Calif. -- UPEK(R), Inc., the leading supplier of fingerprint security solutions, today announced that Lenovo is incorporating UPEK's TouchStrip(TM) fingerprint authentication solution in select Lenovo ThinkPad Z60m and Z60t notebooks targeting the small and medium business (SMB) market. The ThinkPad Z60m and Z60t notebooks with integrated fingerprint reader from UPEK will enable SMB users to protect access to files, Windows(R), websites and local and network applications with the swipe of a finger both in the workplace and at home. The ThinkPad notebooks also incorporate UPEK's pre-boot authentication hardware for protection during power-on of the notebook platform, designed to extend security beyond the OS level.
UPEK's TouchStrip fingerprint authentication solution has been integrated into a wide range of ThinkPad notebook platforms including the T42, T43, X41 and X41 Tablet. The industry has recognized UPEK's superior approach to security with over one million TouchStrip solutions delivered in notebook PCs in the last 12 months.
"Once again, we are pleased to continue our penetration across notebook product lines with our leading customers," stated Greg Goelz, VP marketing, UPEK, Inc. "It is rewarding to see the integration of our value-oriented security solutions moving towards the convergence of business and personal activities as expressed through the widescreen ThinkPad Z60m and Z60t platforms. Now, a small or medium business user who relies on biometric security to protect data on the PC and corporate networks can take that same level of security home to protect access to sensitive personal data and web accounts such as bank and credit card accounts."
