"Orthogon's OS-Spectra is the most full-featured system we tested," said Curtis Franklin, senior technology editor at CMP Media LLC's Network Computing. "Orthogon's sophisticated management system simplified deployment and provided a level of wireless link management unmatched by any other system. And if rapid deployment is critical, with the right choice of antenna, setting up the OS-Spectra can be a five-minute affair."
"We are honored that Network Computing has recognized our OS-Spectra 300 with the incredible distinction of 'Editor's Choice,'" said Phil Bolt, president and CEO, Orthogon Systems. "The high marks received for ease of installation, streamlined management and top performance are the very same attributes our customers have come to value most from Orthogon Systems while underscoring our commitment to making fixed wireless connectivity a reality even in the most challenging environments."
Putting Fixed Wireless Systems to the Test
Appearing in the Sept. 14th issue, the product review evaluates seven point-to-point wireless networking systems that operate in either 5GHz or 60GHz radio frequencies or free-space optical (FSO) and able to be equipped with a reliable 100Mbps link between two points without requiring an FCC license. Testing took place at CMP Media LLC's Network Computing University of Florida Real-World Labs(R) and focused on throughput through a variety of levels, with different packet sizes at each throughput level, to discover how the systems would perform with different traffic and load levels.
The products were tested in two scenarios. In the first, a single organization is deploying an internal network link over a few hundred yards. The second scenario is for backup, in which fixed wireless endpoints are deployed as needed to replace cables that have been cut, or to provide network access to locations before cables can be pulled. All Network Computing product reviews are conducted by current or former IT professionals in the Real-World Labs(R) or partner labs, according to the publication's own test criteria. Vendor involvement is limited to assistance in configuration and troubleshooting. The review can be found in its entirety in the Sept. 14th print issue of Network Computing or online at www.nwc.com/showArticle.jhtml?articleID=170701102.
