Trip Hawkins Announced as CTIA Keynote Speaker; Founder of Electronic Arts to Highlight Venture Into Wireless Arena

WASHINGTON -- CTIA-The Wireless Association(TM) announces the addition of Trip Hawkins, business visionary behind Electronic Arts and Founder and CEO of Digital Chocolate, Inc. to the lineup of keynote speakers for CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & Entertainment 2005. Trip will speak from the CTIA keynote stage on Wednesday, September 28, day two of the wireless data event currently taking place at Moscone West in San Francisco.

Trip's candid insights about the entertainment and technology revolutions of the last 30 years and the future prospects for mobile entertainment will be a perfect compliment to our keynote stage," said Steve Largent, President & CEO of CTIA.
Trip is responsible for the strategic focus, overall direction, and performance of Digital Chocolate, a company that creates games for wireless phones. To date, more than three million Digital Chocolate, or D-Choc, programs have been downloaded. The company has raised $20 million in financing and grossed $4 million in 2004.
Trip has been a new media pioneer for 30 years. Early in his career, Trip played a key role in defining the personal computer at Apple. He went on to found Electronic Arts and built the company into the industry leader. Trip also founded 3DO, a pioneer in digital video, network gaming, and social communities.
The author of three patents, Trip introduced the use of celebrities and athletes in video games, and his design credits include award-winning best-sellers such as John Madden Football, Army Men, M.U.L.E., Doctor J and Larry Bird Go One on One, and High Heat Baseball. Trip received a MBA from Stanford University and developed his own major at Harvard University, where he graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Strategy and Applied Game Theory.
Trip replaces keynoter Joel Katz, Co-Managing Shareholder of Greenberg Taurig, who was unable to attend the CTIA event at the last minute for personal reasons.
CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & Entertainment 2005, September 27-29, 2005 at Moscone West in San Francisco, CA, is a comprehensive wireless data event, which represents both sides of the industry - Enterprise and Consumer. From the Enterprise side the focus is on integrating wireless technologies into the enterprise and vertical business markets, such as healthcare, government, automotive, retail, etc. Additionally, the show reflects the explosive growth in wireless entertainment - encompassing everything from mobile content to digital cameras and interactive games.
CTIA is the international association for the wireless telecommunications industry, representing carriers, manufacturers and wireless Internet providers.
