WMS Gaming to Debut the Next Big Event for the Slot Floor at G2E Trade Show; MONOPOLY Big Event to Debut as a Truly Communal Gaming Device Experience With Three New Games; Four Additional New MONOPOLY Branded Games to be Showcased
Business Wire, Sept 6, 2005
WAUKEGAN, Ill & LAS VEGAS -- WMS Gaming Inc., a subsidiary of WMS Industries Inc. (NYSE: WMS) announced today that it will debut seven new game themes and a unique gaming concept based on Hasbro, Inc.'s (NYSE: HAS) MONOPOLY brand at next week's Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas. The highlight of the new MONOPOLY offerings will be WMS' introduction of a unique new gaming concept for the slot floor, which brings the communal nature and excitement of table games to slot machines under the umbrella of a new branded series of games - MONOPOLY Big Event. The new MONOPOLY titles, which are under license from the Hasbro Properties Group, the intellectual property development arm of Hasbro, include three new games that extend the MONOPOLY Money(TM) wide-area progressive (WAP) product line, one of which is a new penny denomination progressive product, one new non-linked participation game and three new games for the Big Event product line. Over the last seven years, WMS has introduced over 20 titles of MONOPOLY-branded games for what has become one of the gaming industry's most popular and enduring brands.
"The popularity of the MONOPOLY brand proves its value on the slot floor every day as games based on MONOPOLY remain among the most popular in the industry," said Brian R. Gamache, President and CEO of WMS Industries. "When we launched our first wide-area progressive product line a little more than a year ago under the MONOPOLY brand, it was an instant hit. Based on the enormous player recognition of MONOPOLY-branded games, we are confident in our choice to launch our innovative communal gaming product line under this brand as well.
"In MONOPOLY Big Event, our game designers have created a truly unique gaming experience that combines the entertainment elements of a video slot machine with the group experience of table games where players can jointly play for and enjoy a common gaming experience. We believe all of our new MONOPOLY-branded products being introduced at the 2005 G2E event will extend the popularity of the brand with slot players and lead to even higher time on device, thereby increasing the earnings potential of the games for our casino customers."
MONOPOLY Big Event:
This new game concept offers the first slot machine experience where all players participate in and win the bonus round together. MONOPOLY Big Event will be introduced with three new dedicated video game themes under the MONOPOLY brand - X Marks the Spot(R) 2, Egyptian Riches(TM) and Mystical Dragon(TM) - and features a unique stadium seating configuration surrounding a large plasma screen display.
MONOPOLY Big Event players are encouraged to root for each other much in the manner of some table games, as a Big Event bonus is awarded to all eligible gaming devices in the bank of machines. During the communal bonus round, the overhead plasma screen displays MR. MONOPOLY and his dog as they move around the MONOPOLY board based on a roll of the dice.
Additional MONOPOLY Titles:
WMS will showcase three new MONOPOLY titles for its MONOPOLY Money wide-area progressive jackpots: MONOPOLY Corner the Market(R) - Double MONOPOLY and MONOPOLY Corner the Market - Go Wild(TM) are new mechanical reel game themes, while MONOPOLY - Wild Dice(TM) is a new five reel penny video game title.
WMS will also debut one new non-linked MONOPOLY participation game at G2E this year: MONOPOLY - Shake, Rattle & Roll(TM). This exciting new game features the Cruisin' for Cash Free Spin Rock 'n Roll(TM) bonus where MR. MONOPOLY travels around the MONOPOLY board awarding property values and many mini-bonus awards.
