Legendary Bands Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire Receive Platinum Award for Best-Selling DVD; Image Entertainment CEO Presents Award to Bands During Live Performance; Honor Marks the First Platinum-Selling DVD for Both Music Groups

Business Wire, Sept 7, 2005

LOS ANGELES -- Legendary bands Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire have achieved another new career highlight: platinum-selling DVD artists. Their joint release, "Chicago And Earth, Wind & Fire Live At The Greek Theatre," released by Image Entertainment, Inc., has been certified platinum less than two months after its release. Image Entertainment, Inc. (Nasdaq: DISK), is a leading independent licensee, producer and distributor of home entertainment programming in North America.

Image Entertainment President and CEO Martin W. Greenwald presented both bands with their platinum awards this evening, live onstage in the middle of their sold-out stand at Los Angeles' Greek Theatre, where the DVD was shot last year. Though both music groups have sold a combined total of nearly 200 million records and received 75 Gold and Platinum Awards between them, this is the first time either band has received a Platinum Award for a DVD.

"We are very proud to be associated with these two iconic music groups," said Martin W. Greenwald, president and CEO of Image Entertainment. "And we are very pleased to be able to give them this truly well-deserved recognition. Image is honored to be a part of this award-winning project."

The two-DVD set features the complete final show of the 2004 summer Earth, Wind & Fire/Chicago tour, which was videotaped in high-definition at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles in August 2004. The DVD was released on June 28 and has a suggested retail price of $24.99. "Chicago And Earth, Wind & Fire Live At The Greek Theatre" was produced by Albert Spevak and Stephanie Bennett and was directed by Jim Gable. Henry Root executive produced the Delilah Films/Ambassador Entertainment production.

The 2005 summer run of the Earth, Wind & Fire/Chicago tour kicked-off on Friday, June 24, in Chicago, where both bands launched their careers more than 30 years ago. Just like the much lauded 2004 tour, fans got to hear more than 3 hours of hits including a full-length set from each band and two incredible jam sessions at the opening and closing of the show, with both bands playing on stage together.

Chicago has written, recorded and performed some of the most popular and best loved songs in rock history. Among their many milestone accomplishments, Chicago is the only American rock band to chart Top 40 albums in five consecutive decades, and they have sold more than 122,000,000 records since forming in 1967. Chicago has scored 20 Top 10 hits, 5 Number One albums, 5 Number One singles and 5 Gold singles. In addition, the group has been honored with a Grammy, several American Music Awards, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a downtown Chicago street naming. Early next year they will release a new album, Chicago XXX, produced by Jay DeMarcus of country supergroup Rascal Flatts.

Earth, Wind & Fire is one of the most influential, innovative and commercially omnipotent contemporary pop music bands of the 20th century. Their 35-year history has produced millions of albums sold worldwide (including eight double-platinum albums, two platinum albums and three gold albums) and five Number One R&B albums, one Number One Pop and eight Top 10 Pop albums, and eight Number One R&B singles. The group has earned eight Grammy Awards, four American Music Awards, honors from the NAACP and BET, a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. Earth Wind & Fire remains to this day one of the top globally popular touring attractions with a catalog of mega-hits spanning over three decades. The legendary band will release their 23rd career album, "Illumination," on September 20, 2005.
