Business Wire, Sept 7, 2005
MELVILLE, N.Y. -- FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: FALC), a leading developer of network storage software solutions, today announced that the company's award-winning VirtualTape Library (VTL) software has successfully completed interoperability testing with VERITAS NetBackup software, now from Symantec. The certification ensures customers will gain added benefit from the combined use of NetBackup software and FalconStor's VirtualTape Library software.
"We are pleased to welcome FalconStor to the VERITAS Enabled Technology Partner Program," said Ravi Sundararajan, senior director of strategic alliances, Symantec. "The combination of FalconStor's VirtualTape Library and VERITAS NetBackup provides customers with flexibility in the solutions or platforms they choose to protect their mission-critical data for business continuity and disaster recovery."
Under the VERITAS Enabled(TM) Technology Partner Program, products are jointly tested and validated to help customers manage complex, heterogeneous storage environments, ease multi-vendor implementations and reduce costs through improved storage utilization and management. FalconStor and Symantec engineers worked together to ensure seamless interoperability between solutions.
VERITAS NetBackup software, now from Symantec, redefines the boundaries between data backup, data recovery, and data management. In addition to centrally managing and rapidly recovering data, NetBackup software also enables the management and recovery of systems across heterogeneous UNIX, Windows and Linux environments. FalconStor's VirtualTape Library software consolidates the management of backup resources while enhancing the reliability of backup operations and accelerating the speed of recovery.
"The certification gives our customers an enterprise-ready backup option to efficiently manage and maintain the integrity of their data, whether on Sun Solaris, HP-UX or Windows Platforms," said Bernie Wu, vice president of business development for FalconStor Software. "Software compatibility is essential in today's storage IT environments, and the combined solutions offer customers additional options to archive and protect their data."
FalconStor VTL leverages industry standard high speed disk to provision virtual tape drives and libraries via the Fibre Channel (FC), iSCSI, and NDMP protocols to backup servers attached to an iSCSI/IP or FC storage area network (SAN) to maximize performance and return on investment.
