Business Wire, Sept 7, 2005
AUSTIN, Texas -- Lombardi Software(R) announced today that the company has joined the Object Management Group(TM) (OMG(TM)), the international not-for-profit consortium that produces and maintains computer industry specifications for interoperable enterprise applications, as part of the merger between OMG and the Business Process Management Initiative (BPMI.org). Phil Gilbert, Lombardi's Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, will participate on the Business Process Management Initiative (BPMI) Steering Committee.
"OMG and BPMI.org recognized the opportunity of working together for integrating business processes and IT, and propagating the use of OMG's standards to help ensure productivity interoperability, portability and technology reusability," said Dr. Richard Soley, Chairman and CEO of OMG. "We are very pleased that Lombardi Software will be continuing their leadership role in helping to develop business process management standards within the OMG."
"In the new world of software, the winning commercial companies will be those that adopt, promote and assist in the innovation of open standards, and the best business process management suites (BPMS) will package standards-based tools into a cohesive platform that is easy-to-use for business, yet adheres to the infrastructure of the Internet and of corporate IT," said Lombardi's Gilbert. "Through our membership in BPMI.org and our leadership role in OMG, Lombardi is committed to providing more standards-based tools and encouraging consistency within BPM."
The BPMI Steering Committee will encourage consolidation and standardization of BPM technologies with an eye toward meeting business needs and improving ROI on BPM investments.
