Toyota Motor Kyushu Adopts Digital Guardian for Intellectual Property Protection and Compliance with Japan's Personal Information Protection Act
Business Wire, Sept 7, 2005
WALTHAM, Mass. -- Verdasys, Inc. and Japanese distribution partner Rikei Corporation today announced the enterprise sale of Verdasys' Digital Guardian "point of use" security software solutions to Toyota Motors Kyushu (TMK) for use in the protection of intellectual property, and the prevention of private data loss in compliance with Japan's Personal Information Protection Act.
"Over the course of the past year, the need to secure both proprietary and personal information has taken on new urgency, as evidenced by the ever increasing number of public incidents related to the leakage and loss of such data. Securing and auditing this information is vital to protecting the value of corporate assets, and is now legally mandated by Japan's Personal Information Protection Act," said Katsuei Aoyagi, Rikei's Chief Executive Officer.
TMK will use Digital Guardian's "point of use" data security platform to safeguard data contained on PCs, laptops and servers distributed throughout the company, and to monitor, control and audit what users can do with the proprietary and sensitive data they handle. TMK will also utilize Digital Guardian's unique "context sensitive" enforcement capabilities to provide continuous education and awareness to those employees responsible for maintaining the security of this information.
"TMK places great emphasis on the protection of our proprietary information, which includes new vehicle designs and data related to our state of the art manufacturing processes," said Jim Naruo, General Manager of Toyota Motors Kyushu. "Digital Guardian's unparalleled ability to both monitor and protect data at the point of use, and provide us with a comprehensive audit trail across our future global supply chain, gives us the ability to meet the very high standards we set for achieving both data security and regulatory compliance," he added.
"As a recognized leader in both vehicle design and manufacturing quality in the automotive industry, Toyota Motors Kyushu is now also establishing a reputation as a visionary in the use of technology to protect proprietary and private information," said Seth Birnbaum, CEO of Verdasys. "We are extremely pleased to have Digital Guardian selected for their data protection solution, and place tremendous value on this new relationship. We enthusiastically welcome TMK as a customer, and look forward to working closely with one of the finest, and most successful automobile manufacturers in the world."
