Red Hat First with Enterprise Linux Support and Services in Russian; Web and Telephone Based Language Support Available from September 2005
Business Wire, Sept 7, 2005
MUNICH, Germany -- Red Hat, Inc. (NASDAQ:RHAT), the world's leading provider of open source solutions to the enterprise, today announced plans to introduce expanded language support services for Russian speakers. The new Russian language software and services will become available from the end of September as an integral element of Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
The September release will be the first time that Russian language support is added to Red Hat Enterprise Linux as part of an ongoing product update. Red Hat will offer Russian support alongside a range of hardware, security, system tools and storage enhancements.
"The demand for Red Hat Open Source solutions in Central Europe, Eastern Europe and Russia (CER) in particular is increasing. The level of Linux adoption is accelerating quickly and local-language support is vital," said Werner Knoblich, VP EMEA, Red Hat. "We expect the new service to play a leading role in helping to ensure that customers can migrate quickly to a Red Hat Enterprise Linux solution."
Aside from the benefit of being able to use the local language, the introduction of the Russian services will now allow customers to contact support services via a local telephone number.
"We were keen to show our dedication to a key developing market by creating the opportunity for customers to contact us not only in Russian, but also via accessible means," explained Knoblich. "We place significant value on the development of wide-ranging language resources as a way to increase our understanding of local customer needs, making the interface with Red Hat as seamless as possible."
