GoldPocket Interactive Enters Into Strategic Alliance With Canada's Leading Provider of Digital TV; Bell ExpressVu and GoldPocket Collaborate to Deliver Enhanced Broadcasts With On-Demand Access to All NFL Sunday Ticket Games

Business Wire, Sept 8, 2005

TORONTO -- Bell Canada today announced that Bell ExpressVu, Canada's leading digital TV provider, has entered into a strategic alliance with GoldPocket Interactive, a global leader in interactive television (iTV) solutions. Together, the companies will deliver unique on-demand capabilities to Bell ExpressVu satellite customers equipped with iTV-capable receivers.

A recent example of Bell ExpressVu's leadership in delivering the most immersive television viewing experience to its iTV-enabled customers is the upcoming launch of NFL Sunday Ticket Interactive featuring ProGuide, created, managed and delivered with GoldPocket's technology. ProGuide is an exclusive on-screen interactive service available to NFL Sunday Ticket subscribers that delivers game updates, as well as on-demand capabilities to access live action from around the league. For each concurrent NFL Sunday Ticket game, ProGuide offers dynamically updated on-screen information such as current scores and ball possession.

ProGuide also features Scoring Alerts and Red Zone Alerts when a team is within 20 yards of the end zone. Viewers can tune to another NFL game within the ProGuide application by highlighting the game they want and either pressing (SELECT) or the two-digit channel number of the corresponding on-screen channel. When watching a game in full screen mode, Red Zone and Scoring Alerts will appear, allowing viewers to jump to this game with the press of a single button on the remote.

"The consumer TV viewing experience is rapidly evolving and Bell ExpressVu is leading the way with iTV as part of our strategy to connect Canadians to the power and simplicity of digital television," said Gary Smith, President, Bell ExpressVu. "The growing popularity of iTV is a sign that Bell ExpressVu customers are eager to discover new services and content which turn the traditional TV remote into a tool that controls a more immersive viewing experience."

As part of the strategic alliance with GoldPocket, Bell ExpressVu is receiving end-to-end digital production, management and delivery systems to more rapidly create advanced interactive TV applications.

"We are excited to be a part of Bell's pioneering efforts to use iTV to enhance the consumer viewing experience and differentiate itself from its competitors," said GoldPocket CEO Scott Newnam. "With its commitment and understanding of the importance of on-demand news, sports, games and entertainment, Bell is setting the benchmark for iTV in Canada."

Since 1997, Bell ExpressVu has been Canada's leading direct-to-home satellite television company. With more than 1.6 million customers, Bell ExpressVu is Canada's largest digital television provider, nationally broadcasting more than 400 digital video and audio channels, including up to 27 High Definition channels and unique interactive TV services.
