Altiris Developer Program Experiences Significant Momentum; Five New Developer Program Partners Use Altiris Software Development Kit to Build Solutions for System Security, PC Virtualization and Chip-Level Management
Business Wire, April 11, 2006
LAS VEGAS -- Altiris Inc. (Nasdaq: ATRS), a pioneer of service-oriented management solutions, today announced the addition of five new partners to the Altiris(R) Developer Program. Altiris partners and customers are using Altiris Software Development Kits to develop and integrate solutions for system security, virtualization technologies and more efficient hardware management.
The Altiris Software Development Kits help users easily integrate Altiris solutions with third-party or homegrown applications. The SDKs also provide a development environment for Altiris business partners to extend Altiris solution functionality by building new solutions based on the Altiris service-oriented architecture.
Depending on the scope of the development project, Altiris offers two SDKs as part of the Altiris Developer Program. The Altiris Administrator Software Development Kit (ASDK) helps Altiris customers customize their Altiris environment or extend it to other management solutions. The Altiris Solution Developer Software Development Kit (SSDK) helps partners or ISVs build new applications or extend existing solutions on the Altiris architecture.
The following five Altiris partners are now leveraging the SSDK to develop new solutions on the Altiris service-oriented architecture:
--Altrinsic Solutions: enterprise spyware solution and hardware-independent imaging
--Ardence: software-streaming platform
--Chorus Systems: environment-aware security vulnerability management
--NVIDIA: PC core-logic manageability
--Senforce: endpoint security
Altiris customers like SkyWest and Vericenter use the ASDK for Altiris solution customization. Vericenter operates state-of-the-art datacenters and requires extreme flexibility from its software solutions to meet the dynamic needs of more than 400 customers.
Dave Colesante, Vericenter CTO and SVP of engineering, said, "I view Altiris as a foundation we can build on. It is a platform that we can grow and leverage in the coming years in many ways. The Altiris Administrator Software Development Kit is central to our ability to create customized hosting services that meet our customers' business requirements."
Dwain Kinghorn, Altiris CTO, said, "We have more than 15,000 customers and partners with innovative and unique usage scenarios for Altiris technology. We want to help them get the most out of their Altiris investment. The Altiris Developer Program opens Altiris service-oriented management to customers, partners and ISVs, and makes available our rich set of services such as a centralized configuration management database, efficient communications, and policy and notification engines."
A new version of the ASDK was just released and includes a number of new APIs for security, report, resource and asset management, package servers, and more complete software delivery APIs.
Altiris provides training courses that help Developer Program participants quickly acquire a knowledge base for Altiris solutions. These courses are available worldwide direct from Altiris or through training partners. In addition, the Developer Program provides support, testing, knowledge transfer and marketing assistance. ManageFusion(R) Las Vegas (www.managefusion.com) will offer numerous break-out sessions and hands-on labs that focus on the Altiris Software Development Kits.
