Before joining Devon Medical, Mr. Iona was the president, CEO, and chairman of Physiometrics, Inc., a national technology and healthcare services company. Prior to that position he served as president of Storeroom Solutions, Inc., a leading provider of e-commerce and inventory asset management services. Mr. Iona also served as senior vice president and general manager of Day & Zimmermann International, Inc., and has held key leadership positions with Duratek, Inc., and Public Service Electric and Gas Company.
"Devon Medical is an exciting company with a brilliant future," says Mr. Iona. "The company's expansive line of highly-differentiated and innovative products, ever-growing pipeline, and "flat-world" execution philosophy will make Devon Medical a formidable player in the marketplace. Moreover, the impending FDA-approval and corresponding launch of our safety syringe, coupled with our rapidly expanding manufacturing capabilities, positions us to deliver world class products with global cost competitiveness."
Devon Medical's new safety syringe uniquely features a one-handed operation that passively deploys and locks a protective safety sheath after injection while the needle is still inside the patient, thereby never exposing a contaminated needle. The company submitted the 510(k) summary for the safety syringe to the FDA on March 13, 2006, and expects product availability in the third quarter of this year, following FDA-clearance.
