GlowPoint Continues Growth in Broadcasting Sector with Announcement of Professional Football Draft Coverage; Selected by Two Major Sports Broadcasters to Provide Live Video Feeds
Business Wire, April 13, 2006
HILLSIDE, N.J. -- Glowpoint, Inc. (Pink Sheets: GLOW), the world's leading broadcast-quality IP-based video communications service provider, announced today that two leading sports entertainment and broadcasting networks have selected Glowpoint's IP-based Broadcast Video Solution for their live television coverage of the 2006 Professional Football Draft, taking place on April 29th and 30th, at Radio City Music Hall, in New York. This is the fourth consecutive year that Glowpoint has been selected to broadcast the draft on national cable TV and the first time Glowpoint will be used by NFL Network for this event. For the broadcast, NFL Network will be using its permanent Glowpoint circuits at the 32 team locations to provide coverage of the draft.
"It's simple, Glowpoint has consistently performed for us in delivering live two-way video feeds between our NFL Network Studios and the NFL team sites," said Glenn Adamo, Vice President of Media Operations at the NFL. "And this year, we're taking our draft programming further by leveraging the Team Cam to include team reactions during our live draft coverage."
"The repeat business and new application of Glowpoint for this event is a direct result of our focus and dedication to the Broadcast sector, where we are leveraging our strategic relationships to drive new applications and increased interest in our solutions every day. This year's draft coverage validates our strategy with large scale broadcasters looking for a superior service and smaller broadcasters seeking a quality of service that's affordable", said Glowpoint's CEO Mike Brandofino.
As it has for the past three years, the Glowpoint network will carry live interviews from 32 team headquarters across the country throughout the two days of ongoing television coverage. Team representatives will connect to Glowpoint's IP-based video communications network. At various times during the broadcast, on-air personalities will place live video calls to solicit and broadcast pick-by-pick reactions from team coaches, players and other key personnel. As a result of the reliability and quality that the Glowpoint network and solution demonstrated in the past, the broadcasters for this event have chosen to deliver this live interview footage entirely over Glowpoint's Video-Over-IP network.
Mr. Brandofino added, "The timing of these wins coincides with our streamlined corporate focus, with two of the key components being revenue retention and scalable growth. This repeat business and new application of our broadcast solution underscores that we are on the right track. In fact, our increased focus in the broadcast sector since early 2005 has resulted in more than doubling our revenue in the sector, from just over $430,000 in 2004 to more than $870,000 in 2005. We will continue to focus on the sectors that are yielding the most positive results and expect the broadcast sector to represent an even larger share of our overall revenue in 2006."
