Edmunds.com's Unique New Interactive Vehicle Tours Entertain and Educate Car Shoppers While Resetting the Standard for Web Video
Business Wire, April 17, 2006
SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- Edmunds.com (http://www.edmunds.com), the premier online resource for automotive information, today launched its Interactive Vehicle Tours, complete multimedia experiences about selected vehicles.
In each Interactive Vehicle Tour (IVT), users have the opportunity to view brief, informative videos about specific features; a longer video highlighting the vehicle's road test; fully interactive 360-degree virtual-surround interior images; 360-degree exterior spin images; the full photo gallery for the vehicle; and Edmunds.com's evaluations of the vehicle's power, performance and design.
"Having published videos for over five years, we've learned a lot about what multimedia users want and appreciate. Our Interactive Vehicle Tours integrate photos, videos and interactivity to deliver a dynamic experience that will especially resonate with car-shoppers, automotive enthusiasts and technophiles," said Matthew Kumin, General Manager of Edmunds.com Media. "This new, compelling multimedia offering takes full advantage of Web interactivity -- a 'lean forward' rather than a 'lean back' experience, and one that reflects the future of online video."
After selecting a vehicle, users of the IVT are invited to click on as many as 15 "hot spot" buttons that appear and flash at various locations on interior and exterior photos of that vehicle. For example, the Ford Mustang Coupe IVT features video clips about its spoiler, retroactive styling and 13 other unique assets, while the Nissan Titan IVT offers video clips about its towing ability, utility package and ten other features of interest.
Interactive Video Tours are available for each of the 28 vehicles that won a 2006 Edmunds.com "Editors' Most Wanted" vehicle award (listed at http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/mostwanted/2006/index.html).
