Business Wire, April 17, 2006

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Magma(R) Design Automation Inc. (Nasdaq:LAVA), a provider of semiconductor design software, announced that Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rajeev Madhavan will open today's Nasdaq Stock Market and participate in the Market Open ceremony at 9:30 a.m. EDT to mark today's introduction of the all-new Talus(TM) integrated circuit (IC) implementation product line. Talus offers IC developers unequaled automation and virtually unlimited capacity while delivering improved timing, area, power, signal integrity and manufacturability.

Joining Madhavan on the podium will be four key members of the Talus product development team: Roger Carpenter, vice president of strategic technology; Ed Huijbregts, vice president of design implementation; and software architects Hsiao-Ping Tseng and Koen Van Eijk.

"We're excited to celebrate the unveiling of our Talus product line by opening The Nasdaq Stock Market," Madhavan said. "This is the perfect setting for such an important announcement, not only for Magma but also for the electronic design automation (EDA) industry. Prior to Talus, the EDA industry provided only design assistance. With Talus, Magma provides true automation enabling IC designers to accelerate the design cycle while maximizing their engineering resources, thereby boosting profits per design."

The 9:30 a.m. EDT market opening will be broadcast live on the Nasdaq Tower in Times Square and made available to broadcast television. The Market Opening will also be webcast live at www.Nasdaq.com (click on Nasdaq MarketSite and Tower).
