Eureka! ''American Inventor'' Judge Runs Prestigious Innovation Think Tank; ISB Exclusive Speaker Doug Hall Judges ABC's ''American Inventor''
Business Wire, April 17, 2006
LOS ANGELES -- Inventor and entrepreneur Doug Hall guides would-be Edisons as they turn their dreams into realities on the new ABC hit show "American Inventor." Doug and an all-star panel of judges help contestants develop their product as America ultimately picks the winning invention. Doug and his fellow judges will narrow down the initial entries to a group of finalists, chosen from all over the U.S., who will each be given $50,000 to develop their product, refine it and take it to the next level. This is a show that will make the American dream come true for one person -- taking his/her idea, vision and creativity and helping to turn it into a mass-produced product that will be in every American home.
An inventor himself, Doug Hall is also a best-selling author and radio host, as well as the founder and CEO of Eureka! Ranch, an invention and research think tank. On "Inventor" he plays the role of the "truth telling" judge, no matter how bad it hurts. Show creator and producer Simon Cowell has dubbed him "the most annoying man in America," due to his frequent dissenting opinions regarding the feasibility and/or marketability of potential products. While the other judges appear to be swayed largely by emotional storylines and heartbreaking stories, Doug remains as objective as possible, vowing to tell the painful truth about each invention's potential success rate.
Dateline NBC described Hall as "an eccentric entrepreneur who just might have what we've all been looking for ... the happy secret to success." His signature dress includes bold shirts, blue jeans and bare feet. But under the carefree clothes and playful attitude is one of the world's leading experts on how to measurably increase your odds of success with ideas, innovations and inventions. He's a one-of-a-kind straight shooter who helps people reach beyond their comfort zones to achieve more than they dreamed possible.
"American Inventor" is an ABC television series from Simon Cowell and the producers of "American Idol." It airs at 9:00 p.m., ET on Thursdays.
