Lockdown Networks Names Former Microsoft Executive to Its Advisory Board; Long-time Microsoft Executive Gordon Mangione to Provide Strategic Guidance for Leader in Network Access Control
Business Wire, April 19, 2006
SEATTLE -- Lockdown Networks(R), the leading provider of Network Access Control (NAC) solutions that ensure all users and devices on the network comply with security policies, today announced that Gordon Mangione, former vice president of the Security Business and Technology Unit (SBTU) at Microsoft, has joined its Advisory Board. Bringing more than 17 years of business and security technology leadership to Lockdown Networks, Mangione will build on the company's exceptional customer base and innovative technology to help secure strategic partnerships and drive market adoption.
Lockdown Networks' unique Network Access Control (NAC) ensures all users and devices conform to security policies and access only appropriate resources, while unauthorized users and non-compliant devices are locked out of the network for quarantine and remediation, or granted guest access, as appropriate. Lockdown's turnkey NAC appliances enforce endpoint security and IT policies by continuously assessing all devices for potential threats and vulnerabilities, and integrating the results with knowledge of the user, device and location to make network access decisions. Lockdown NAC integrates with existing network infrastructure without requiring complex and expensive forklift upgrades, and unlike endpoint security agents, enforces access on the network, to achieve the highest possible level of security.
"Lockdown continues to move the NAC market forward with its award-winning, innovative technology and proven customer results," said Gordon Mangione. "In the crowded NAC market, Lockdown stands out as a clear leader with unique approaches to help customers secure their existing networks. I am thrilled to be joining this team of industry luminaries as the company embarks on its next phase of development."
"Gordon has deep technical knowledge, a keen awareness of customer needs and proven leadership in the security industry," said Brett Helsel, CEO of Lockdown Networks. "Building on our recent partnerships with Intel and Microsoft, we are uniquely positioned to meet the market demand for advanced network security. Gordon will be instrumental in providing strategic advisory support as we grow our market presence, ensuring we achieve the fastest possible uptake of our products in the security markets. We're delighted to have him on the Lockdown team."
For more than 15 years, Mangione held various software development and project leadership positions at Microsoft, most recently serving as corporate vice president of the Security Business and Technology Unit (SBTU). In this position, Mangione had responsibility for the development and support of Microsoft security products and active protection technologies. Mangione previously served as corporate vice president of the SQL Server Team. Prior to that, he was the vice president of the Exchange team, a product unit manager in the Internet Services business and the development manager for SNA Server. He participated in the development of SNA Server, one of the first servers developed for the Microsoft Windows NT operating system. Mangione joined Microsoft in 1991 after working as a developer at Bell Northern Research, where he focused on PC/telephony integration.
