SunGard Availability Services Cited as `Only Complete Solution Provider' in Independent Assessment of Disaster Recovery Services Market

Business Wire, April 19, 2006

WAYNE, Pa. -- According to a recently published report ("The Forrester Wave(TM): Disaster Recovery Service Providers, Q1 2006", Forrester Research Inc., March 24, 2006), SunGard Availability Services is the "only complete solution provider" of disaster recovery services. Disaster recovery is a strategic component of SunGard's offerings to commercial and government entities, which span a wide array of information availability solutions.

The Forrester report notes that SunGard covers more platforms and North American locations than the other major global providers.

"SunGard offers the most resources in North America and is also the only provider offering mobile, fixed, and hosting services," Forrester states. The report continues, "Working with a single vendor can simplify planning and testing efforts, as well as improve service levels over time. SunGard's considerable resources and physical locations across North America give it an advantage in the staging of mobile fleets -- particularly for anticipated threat events where it is possible to stage resources to reduce transit time and improve service levels. Threat events that can be anticipated include hurricanes and floods, for which advance warnings are typically provided hours or days in advance."

Forrester also noted "(SunGard's) installed hardware includes some hard-to-find midrange and mainframe platforms. For firms that require one of these platforms, SunGard may be the only vendor that can respond to all the elements of your RFP."

Forrester also cited SunGard's flexible service options. "Although best known for its brick-and-mortar megacenters, SunGard also has a fleet of mobile recovery units. For supported server and client configurations, SunGard alone allows clients to recover either at a SunGard fixed facility or in a mobile unit, where SunGard will provide the necessary configuration. This gives its customers the flexibility to change their recovery strategies midterm in their contracts if risk or other factors change."

"Disaster recovery is one vital component of a comprehensive information availability strategy," Patrick Doherty, senior vice president of marketing said. "We are pleased that Forrester has recognized our strengths and differentiators in delivering business value to our over 10,000 customers."
