GridPoint Appoints VP of Business Development James T. Spann; Formerly an Executive with Teleflex Inc. and Xantrex Technologies, Spann Will Lead Intelligent Energy Management's Company's Sales Force and Corporate Growth

WASHINGTON -- GridPoint, Inc.(TM), a provider of intelligent energy management (IEM) appliances, today announced the appointment of Vice President of Business Development, James T. Spann, formerly an executive with Teleflex Energy Systems and Xantrex Technologies. Mr. Spann will be responsible for corporate growth, including day-to-day leadership of GridPoint's sales force.
Previously, Mr. Spann served as Vice President and General Manager for Teleflex Energy Systems, a leading manufacturer of heaters and auxiliary power units and a division of Teleflex Inc., where he led sales, marketing, engineering, and customer service. Under his leadership, Teleflex Energy doubled its revenue to $85 million in 2005. Prior to Teleflex, Mr. Spann led operations at Xantrex Technologies, Inc., the industry leader in stationary and mobile power management products with $135 million in annual sales. While at Xantrex, Mr. Spann managed the operational integration of five acquisitions, improved return on sales 21 percent, and implemented a supply chain management sourcing strategy.
Prior to Xantrex, Mr. Spann held several executive positions at the Square D Company, a market-leading brand of electrical distribution and industrial control products, systems and services. He served as President of Square D Mexico, Vice President of Operations of Square D Canada, as well as General Manager and Plant Manager for the Power Instrument and Transformer groups.

Mr. Spann holds a B.S. in business management and industrial engineering from LaSalle University and has attended the Kellogg Executive Program at Northwestern University.
