StrikeForce Technologies Launches ID Theft Protection Products in Brazil; Commences Several Pilot Projects for Major Brazilian Companies and Government Entities; Wins Best Product Award at Security Week Trade Show
Business Wire, April 20, 2006
EDISON, N.J. -- StrikeForce Technologies a global leader in online identity assurance solutions, has launched its product suite in Brazil, a major area for cyber crime with a population of more than 180 million and a growing IT sector. StrikeForce successfully debuted its ID theft protection products in San Paulo at last month's annual Security Week show, one of the world's major security conferences. As a result, the company is engaged in negotiations to establish pilot customer deals with several government, financial services and telecommunication organizations; alliances with several Brazilian resellers; and recognition at Security Week for the best new product suite introduced in Brazil.
StrikeForce highlighted its two-factor authentication platform, ProtectID(TM), and its Internet browser anti-keylogger, WebSecure(TM). Combined, they target growing and lucrative crimes, such as identity theft and online banking fraud.
"The Brazilian cyber crime landscape is even more treacherous than North America's, yet banks and consumers have few tools to stop the bleeding," said Mark Kay, CEO of StrikeForce Technologies. "Fraudsters there have developed the world's most advanced phishing, spyware and keylogging threats, and well-organized criminal groups are siphoning millions of dollars monthly. We expect our current pilot activities in Brazil to lower the country's cyber crime losses and result in significant business flow during the second half of 2006," added Mr. Kay.
Highlighting Brazil's cyber crime activity:
--August 2005: Brazilian police arrested 85 people suspected of stealing more than $33 million from online bank accounts.
--February 2006: Another 55 people arrested for pocketing $4.7 million from 200 accounts in a 9-month period.
--Q1 2006: More than 28,000 cyber incidents were reported to the Brazilian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT).
ProtectID helps protect enterprise networks from hackers' attempts to steal confidential government and financial information, as well as consumers' personal bank accounts, with strong authentication using tokens, mobile phones and biometric devices. WebSecure, scheduled to launch this summer, will hide users' keystrokes from keylogging Trojan programs, helping ensure that personal identity and account information is safe and secure.
