RCG IT Suffolk County Project is Winner of 2006 Knowledge Management Award; Award Recognizes Knowledge Management Initiative Delivering High Value to Citizens

Business Wire,  April 20, 2006

EDISON, N.J. -- RCG Information Technology (www.rcgit.com) proudly recognizes its client Suffolk County as winner in the category of Knowledge Management Initiative Delivering High Value to Citizens. The annual award was presented today in Washington by the E-Gov Institute, Federal Computer Week and FCW Events during FCW's Knowledge Management Conference. E[acute accent]Suffolk County was one of hundreds of nominations. It was selected for the award based on its one-of-a-kind Virtual County Clerk's Office. RCG IT designed, developed and deployed the application for the County utilizing FileNet Software and Microsoft .Net. E[acute accent]"We are delighted with this national recognition of our project," said Peter Schlussler, director of information technology for Suffolk County. "As a winner of this award, it reaffirms that our project is an example of how IT projects can save taxpayers money while bringing government closer to the people." E[acute accent]This is not the first award for the Virtual County Clerk's Office. The project received the 2005 InfoWorld 100 Award and in 2006 the RCG IT annual Delivery Excellence Award. The project was instrumental in reducing overall process cost associated with County operations. Suffolk County will generate $1.5 million of new incremental annual revenues which will pay for their entire implementation investment in seven months. E[acute accent]"Suffolk County is the first county in the nation to open online subscriber access to its massive land records, giving constituents advanced self-service capabilities any time of the day or night," says Rob Simplot, president and CEO of RCG IT. "Subscribers can search mortgages, deeds, liens, UCCs, judgments and civil court actions, view indexed information, download and print scanned images of original documents, pay online and much more." Spearheaded by its Long Island office in Uniondale, NY, RCG IT competed with several firms for Suffolk County's contract and was chosen for the comprehensiveness of its vision and solution. E[acute accent]The Enterprise Content Management application contains 25 million images, a number growing by 2,500 recorded land records per day, or 500,000 images monthly. The data is recorded to give government agencies, businesses, residents and a host of other entities access to both residential and commercial property. They can perform background searches for employment, credit worthiness, fraud detection, land value and real estate speculation purposes. Subscribers can receive up-to-date land record transactions via push technology to e-mails, cell phones or pagers. E[acute accent]Transactions since December 2000 are imaged and indexed, and the County is capturing records dating back to the year 1650 to offer subscribers increased search capabilities.
