Riverbed Announces New Board Member; Polycom Senior Executive and Director Michael R. Kourey Brings Financial and Operational Expertise

SAN FRANCISCO -- Riverbed Technology, Inc., the performance leader in wide-area data services (WDS) solutions, announced today that Michael R. Kourey has been appointed to the company's board of directors. Kourey joins Riverbed's founders, Jerry Kennelly and Dr. Steven McCanne, as well as Stan Meresman, Blake Modersitzki of UV Partners, Chris Schaepe of Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Jim Swartz of Accel Partners. Kourey currently serves as senior vice president, finance and administration, chief financial officer and as a director of Polycom, Inc.

Kourey has served as senior vice president, finance and administration and as a director of Polycom since January 1999 and as chief financial officer since January 1995. He served as vice president, finance and administration of Polycom from January 1995 to January 1999 and as vice president, finance and operations from July 1991 to January 1995. Mr. Kourey holds a B.S. in managerial economics from the University of California, Davis and an M.B.A. from Santa Clara University. Mr. Kourey is also a director of WatchGuard Technologies, Inc., a network security company, and serves on the advisory board of the Business School at Santa Clara University. Prior to joining Polycom, he was vice president of operations at Verilink Corporation.
