Hyperion Launches Alliance for Performance Leadership at Solutions 2006; Alliance to Promote Advancement of Business Performance Management Includes ''Future of Work'' Author, Professor Thomas Malone
Business Wire, April 24, 2006
SANTA CLARA, Calif. & LAS VEGAS -- Hyperion (Nasdaq:HYSL), the global leader in Business Performance Management software, today debuted its Alliance for Performance Leadership at its global Business Performance Management conference, Solutions 2006, taking place in Las Vegas April 23 through April 26.
The Alliance will incubate and synthesize ideas and execute upon the knowledge gained to create methodologies, inform product development and provide a valuable resource for the creation and testing of best practices. Its members will include visionaries from within the Hyperion customer community, academia and Hyperion's own thought leaders. The Alliance will share key learning through communications such as executive summits, seminars, webinars, podcasts and a variety of other media.
Headlining the list of industry luminaries on the Alliance faculty is Professor Thomas W. Malone, founder and director of the MIT Center for Coordination Sciences, and author of "The Future of Work."
"As the 21st century enterprise continues its metamorphosis into a less rigid, more democratic organization, Business Performance Management practices and technology provide the alignment it will need to stay on course," said Malone. "I'm excited to be working with Hyperion, a recognized BPM leader, because we share a vision for how to help organizations evolve and improve their performance."
Other faculty members will include Frank Buytendijk, former Gartner research analyst and Hyperion vice president of Corporate Strategy; Hyperion distinguished scientist and author Erik Thomsen; and Howard Dresner, Hyperion chief strategy officer and former Gartner vice president and research fellow.
"The Alliance for Performance Leadership is one part 'think tank' and two parts consultancy," said Howard Dresner, Hyperion's chief strategy officer and leader of the Alliance. "Our goal is to develop ideas and transform them into new insights that can be used to elevate and refine performance management. With the Alliance, for the first time, those needing guidance in performance management in finance, business or IT will have a single resource to draw upon for insight and best practices that they can put to work immediately in their enterprises."
Hyperion has formulated several best practices and methodologies that the Alliance will study, test and enhance. The Hyperion Blueprint, a powerful tool for delineating, establishing and monitoring the flow of corporate data, and the BI Competency Center, a place in which technologists, analysts and business people come together to transfer their knowledge and build a common body of best practices, represent the types of methodologies the Alliance will target. A third area of focus for the Alliance will be Corporate Social Responsibility, an area in which Hyperion customers are already meeting the requirements of Sustainable Development Reporting, a superset of traditional financial reporting that covers the 360 degree impact of an organization as captured by environmental, social and economic indicators.
"The Alliance for Performance Leadership provides a unique environment for visionaries to develop ideas and contribute to the advancement of Business Performance Management technology and solutions," said Godfrey Sullivan, chief executive officer at Hyperion. "It is a forum for the exchange of ideas between some of the keenest minds in the industry."
Academic Arena Provides Early Showcase for Alliance Success
The newly announced Alliance for Performance Leadership has recently partnered with the Hyperion Higher Education Alliance, a comprehensive industry-academic initiative that enables colleges and universities to use the Business Performance Management tools that are rapidly being adopted by businesses in every industry. One of the first initiatives sponsored by the Alliance programs is the Center for Business Performance Management at the Fisher College of Business at Ohio State University, which will focus on advances in information technology that will enhance business management and measurement.
In addition to its work with the Fisher College of Business, Hyperion has joined forces with Peking University Guanghua to open a Business Performance Management Research Institute to integrate academic research and practical application of advanced management methodologies and information technology.
